Rehab Associates, the Case Management Division of Claims associates, is happy to introduce our newest member of the team, Nurse Case Manager Philip Klemond. His extensive nursing experience has proven a good fit to help patients navigate appropriate medical care and provide patient education.
While Philip was raised in the northern suburbs of Minneapolis, he went to FL for college, and then stayed for several years, working in different capacities for Federal Express. Through the years a promotion moved Philip to Minneapolis, and another promotion brought him to Sioux Falls.
After arriving in Sioux Falls he made the decision to explore different career options. Having a mom who is a nurse, and a brother who is a hospitalist, he chose to return to school to earn his nursing degree.
Philip chose the ICU as his path as he enjoyed the challenges and hard work that came with it. He stayed in ICU for over 8 years, drawn to the service part of the nursing, and the help he was able to bring to families.
His next change led to work as a transplant coordinator, which above all helped hone his case management skills. He also spent some time in perioperative care before making the decision to join Rehab Associates as a Nurse Case Manager.
In his work through the years he has always most enjoyed being of service to others, providing resources, and helping them navigate their illness. This is evident in a national award he was given, the Daisy Award, while he was at Sanford. It means a lot to him as the nomination came from a family he worked closely with.
Philip has two kids, a 15 year old son who loves computers and bikes; and a 12 year old daughter who’s in softball and cross country, and is in the Honors Program.
In addition to doing anything that involves his kids and their activities, Philip likes to bike and run, and in the past participated in marathons and triathlons, which has now evolved to long-distance gravel/mountain biking. He also enjoys cooking and baking.
