In a profession like adjusting, education never ceases. Whether it’s keeping up with new court cases and how that may affect our clients, or new types of construction, there’s always some area that one (or more) of our people are stepping up to the plate to learn about. And of course technology is always changing for all of us.
Our Property Department recently had an indepth, weeklong course on Xactimate. Xactimate is a claims estimating solution designed for insurance adjusters that can be used on multiple platforms. Xactimate allows users to receive and send assignments for estimates and valuations to adjusters, contractors and staff. It is one of the more popular estimating programs and is used by many of our insurance company clients.
We have been utilizing Xactimate for several years, but this course was a great refresher, provided an insight to new software, and also enabled our newer adjusters to become more proficient.
An Xactimate trainer from Orem, Utah flew in to spend this week with us, and attendance from our office included: Tim Wieker, Chad Moore, Collin Karsky, Joe Jares, Mike Weckman and Nick Hemme.
Our Property & Casualty Team was also busy networking (and having some fun!) at the South Dakota Claims Association’s (SDCA) Annual golf outing last month. The next day the SDCA offered some education at their annual conference which included:
- Pro Engineering, Lon Schoneman – Determining hail damage parameters on HVAC equipment
- ONSITE Engineering, Luke Choudek & JP Fonder – Forensic testing of property and vehicle mechanical and electrical failures (two part presentation)
- DigiStream Investigations, Rob Vander Veen & Mike Tetti – Investigations in the Age of Geosocial Data
- SD Division of Criminal Investigation, Scott Wilson – Insurance Fraud
This annual event was attended by: Tim Wieker, Chad Moore, Collin Karsky, Cory Beck, Joe Jares, Mike Weckman, Nick Hemme, and Jeff Jares.
